Tigran Avinyan Meets with Entrepreneurs

On May 29, 2021, Acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan took part in an Enterprise Armenia Foundation (EAF)-hosted tie-free meeting with business people, business support entities and entrepreneurs in Tsaghkadzor.

A panel discussion was held during the first part of the event. Addressing the meeting with opening remarks, the Acting Deputy Prime Minister noted that the global pandemic has slowed down the global economy, where old economic models tend to lose their relevance, which makes it imperative to adequately respond to the emerging challenges.

Tigran Avinyan further said that standard approaches to development in such an environment cannot keep up with the same pace of progress, and therefore we need to deeply analyze and rethink the ideas of economic development, economic potentialities and competitiveness if we are to engineer a more business-friendly environment. The Deputy Premier added that we need to clearly diagnose the current status of economy, analyze the bottlenecks and propose adequate solutions.

The Deputy Prime Minister introduced the government’s fiscal and economic policies, dwelling on the ongoing partnership between the public and private sectors, the public administration reform, the digitization process and the emerging business opportunities.

Tigran Avinyan described the establishment of the Enterprise Armenia Foundation as a landmark event, which needs to be supported so that the fund could succeed in attracting foreign direct investment within its mandate and mission and improve Armenia’s image as an attractive destination for investments.

The meeting sought to ensure a free dialogue in a relaxed atmosphere between the private and public sectors, as well as to identify with the help of representatives of business support entities and the business community Armenia’s most common investment and post-investment problems and suggest solutions.

Enterprise Armenia Foundation Director Levon Hovhannisyan presented EAF’s mission, goals and priorities. During the panel discussion, the Enterprise Armenia Foundation’s Investment Director presented EAF’s ongoing and past activities.

Keynote remarks were delivered by representatives of the Armenian Union of Employers, Union of Producers and Entrepreneurs of Armenia, Union of High-Tech Companies, Business Support Office, Export-Armenia experts association, American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia, Armenia-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Armenian-British Chamber of Commerce.

A question and answer session was held at the end of the meeting.
