Tigran Avinyan holds consultation on provision of prosthetics for servicemen with disabilities
On January 21, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan chaired a consultation on the provision of prosthetics for disabled servicemen.
In his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister noted: “Dear colleagues, today we will discuss issues related to prosthetics for servicemen with disabilities that proved more acute following the war. We need to clarify the current situation in the field, taking into account the stages and procedures of the prosthetics process. We need to address key issues, including the assessment of current needs and capabilities, definition of a special prosthetic procedure, identification of beneficiaries and involvement of additional resources.
I would like to emphasize that prosthetics for injured servicemen is a top priority for the Government of Armenia, and we must implement it at the highest level. This is the least we can do for our servicemen who spared nothing defending the Homeland. We must accurately assess our capabilities to get a complete picture of opportunities.
We also need to understand what kind of experience we lack in order to use the best foreign experience and knowledge in the prosthetics process. I would especially like to emphasize the fact that we work in a systematic way, when all the bodies involved in the process must be guided with a sense of high responsibility, and the solutions found should meet the highest standards.
Last but not least, our disabled servicemen must be given an exceptional individual approach based on the most accurate assessment of individual needs, and we must address all possible problems ahead.”
The meeting discussed the overall situation in the prosthetics process and the activities aimed at updating statistics on a daily basis. A separate agenda item comprised issues related to the organization of prosthetics for people injured during the war, including the assessment of needs and the involvement of additional funding. The use of local resources in the context of involving international best practices was discussed during the meeting.
Tigran Avinyan stated two important principles in terms of introducing high standards and defining the order of persons subject to prosthetics. Summing up, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed the need for follow-up service as a key commitment. Relevant instructions were given to the government departments responsible for specific activities.
