Eduard Aghajanyan holds video call with OGP CEO Sanjay Pradhan

On May 15, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of Armenia Eduard Aghajanyan held a video call with Open Government Partnership CEO Sanjay Pradhan.

Eduard Aghajanyan presented the socio-economic, educational and healthcare measures that the Government is implementing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the problems with transparency, accessibility and mutual trust that have emerged in the stage of implementation.

Sanjay Pradhan spoke about the successful democratic models used by other governments in the fight against Covid-19: the Open Data procurement format, public processes, availability of timely information about developments, access to e-democracy tools and trust in the government.

The interlocutors shared the view that successful were the governments that acted in a more open and transparent manner during the epidemic. The role of “open governance” principles in addressing global challenges was discussed in this context.

The parties agreed to cooperate in presenting Armenia’s experience, localizing the successful mechanisms applied in partner countries, and providing technical and financial assistance.
