RA Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan received the delegation headed by President of Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran Gholam Ali Haddad Adel.



Having welcomed the first after Armenia's independence visit paid to our country by the President of the Iranian Majlis, the Prime Minister expressed hope that it would contribute not only to the deepening of the Armenian-Iranian inter-parliamentary ties, but also to the further development of the existing multifaceted relationship between our two friendly peoples and countries. Appreciative of the increasingly activated mutual visits at all levels, the parties expressed confidence, in particular, that the documents signed during the July, 2006 visit to Iran of the Armenian President, which covered a broad range of areas and the arrangements reached between the two sides would be successfully realized. Andranik Margaryan stressed that strengthened bilateral ties not only were in the best interest of the two countries, but also benefited to the region as a whole. In his opinion, the well-balanced policy conducted by Iran with regard to neighboring countries was an important factor for the settlement of regional conflicts and maintenance of stability. In turn, the President of the Iranian Majlis said that in view of the centuries-old traditions inherited from the historical past, as well as political, economic, cultural affinities of the two countries, the existence of a sovereign and powerful Armenia was in the interest of his country. He assured that Iran was prepared to deepen its relations with Armenia in several fields.


Andranik Margaryan and Golam Ali Adel agreed that the interaction between the legislatures of Armenia and Iran provided a sound framework for the collaboration of law-enforcement authorities. In their opinion, unless assisted by legislators, it would be very hard to achieve the present status of partnership between the two countries in the fields of commerce and economy, scientific research, culture and to develop new programs of cooperation.
