Prime Ministers of Armenia and the Netherlands Set to Cooperate Actively in Agriculture

Today, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan met with the Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Davos.

The Prime Minister of Armenia thanked the Netherlands for continued technical and financial support provided for the reforms underway in Armenia, including through international financial institutions - EBRD, the World Bank, IMF and the Dutch constituency to which Armenia belongs.

Karen Karapetyan informed his counterpart about the reforms being implemented in Armenia, presenting the macroeconomic indicators and the positive trends of growth, noting that Armenia’s EAEU membership, cooperation with the EU and good-neighborly relations with Iran make Armenia interesting in terms of entering the regional markets.

The parties touched upon EU-Armenia relations and the opportunities provided by the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement signed last November.

Presenting the reforms launched by the Armenian government in agriculture, Prime Minister Karapetyan stressed that there is great potential for cooperation in this area. “We are eager to get the experience and know-how of the Netherlands as one of the world’s leading nations in the field of agriculture,” Karen Karapetyan pointed out.

In turn, Mark Rutte noted that the Netherlands is the second largest country in the world in terms of agricultural production, and they will be happy to share their experience and stand ready to take practical steps in that direction.
