“We need to send such signals as may make every law-abiding citizen realize that they can start up a business and feel safe” – PM Meets Syrian Armenians
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan held a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community of Syria living in Armenia. Note that on February 27, 2017, the head of government called on Diaspora Armenians to take part in the building of the future of Armenia.
“Our ultimate goal is to build a modern, logical and developing country, based on our sense of dignity, identity and traditions, understandable for the international community,” the Prime Minister said.
Evoking his appeal to Diaspora Armenians, Karen Karapetyan noted that man is Armenia’s greatest asset and strongest capital, and that this idea underlies his government’s development programs.
“The purpose of my call was to invite Diaspora Armenians - scientists, managers, doctors, cultural figures – to forward us the potential and the wealth of experience they had because it is extremely important in today’s rapidly changing and developing world,” the Head of Government said.
In their remarks, the Syrian Armenians welcomed Karen Karapetyan’s appeal to Diaspora Armenians and expressed their support and readiness to participate in Armenia’s development programs.
The Prime Minister availed himself of the opportunity to take up issues of concern to Syrian Armenians, which bore on the development of small and medium-sized businesses, business programs, agriculture, economic development, etc. Introducing the ongoing reforms in these areas, the Premier stressed the importance of Diaspora’s active participation in our country’s development programs.
“With the recent tide of repatriation of Syrian Armenians, the quality of services improved dramatically in Yerevan. In addition, a new hard-working culture has been shaped. Your optimism in the future day is very contagious. We need to send such signals as may make every law-abiding citizen realize that they can start up a business and feel safe in Armenia,” Karen Karapetyan concluded.
