Prime Minister Pays Working Visit to Armavir Marz
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan paid today a working visit to Armavir Marz of Armenia. The Head of Government first visited a sports school building site in Echmiadzin to get acquainted with the ongoing activities. The construction of the school, supposed to host different sports events, started as early as in 2015 and is due to be complete in 2019. The Government has made a contribution of AMD500 million to implement the program, A football stadium will be built next to the school. Appreciating the implementation of sport-targeted projects in the provinces, the Premier commissioned those responsible to abide by the established timetable.
The Prime Minister next visited the Armenian nuclear power plant. During a consultation held on the spot, the plant’s main performance indicators were presented to the Prime Minister. The Premier was briefed on NPP life extension and safety enhancement-aimed activities and future plans. The first stage of 2nd unit life extension works were said successfully completed, with about 4,500 units of equipment and systems inspected.
During his working trip, Karen Karapetyan called at the headquarters of Tieras de Armenia Company owned by Argentinean businessman of Armenian origin Eduardo Eurnekian. The Premier got acquainted with its activities and forthcoming programs. The plantation of the company is using a drip irrigation system, providing high efficiency in the matter of water and energy consumption.
Currently, the factory produces 1.2 million bottles of wine annually, while the plant’s total capacity is 3 million bottles. Wine is exported to Russia, the USA, all EU countries, Lebanon and Jordan.
During his visit to Tieras de Armenia, the Prime Minister met with individual producers and entrepreneurs to discuss prospects for the development of agriculture and farming. The Premier stressed that the Government has diagnosed the problems faced in this area and is currently working on a development strategy, emphasizing the importance of introducing modern technologies in agriculture.
Karen Karapetyan next visited Levon Galchyan Art Center in Baghramyan, where the Prime Minister was briefed on the ongoing activities. The Center specializes in pottery, blacksmithing and carpentry. 70 children attend the center every year and get free training there. The workshop provides teenagers the opportunity to learn crafts and demonstrate their works at various events.
In conclusion,, the Prime Minister visited merited teacher of Armavir Tigranui Harutyunyan. Karen Karapetyan congratulated her on Women’s Day and thanked her for many years of effective pedagogical activity.
