PM Receives IRI General Inspectorate Chairman

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received a delegation led by Nasser Seraj, Chairman of the Organization of General Inspectorate of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Pleased with the current status of Armenian-Iranian relations, the Premier stressed the importance of reciprocated high-level visits, noting that they help promote bilateral cooperation in political, economic, legal and other spheres.

Hovik Abrahamyan expressed confidence that Mr Seraj’s visit and the Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed with the Investigative Committee of Armenia, will add momentum to the cooperation in the legal sphere.

As the head of the Armenian government said, Armenian-Iranian cooperation has good dynamics of development. Various joint programs are being implemented effectively, including the construction of the third high-voltage Armenia-Iran power transmission line.

Thankful for the reception, Nasser Seraj conveyed warm greetings on behalf of IRI First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri. Stressing that the peoples of Armenia and Iran are bound by friendly and fraternal relationship, Mr Seraj assured of his country’s keen interest to develop and expand cooperation with Armenia in all spheres of activity.

The importance of building closer ties of cooperation in the legal sphere was emphasized on either side. Nasser Seraj said to be convinced that the approval of a visa-free regime between the two countries might contribute to the further development of tourism. During the meeting, the parties took the opportunity to address other issues of mutual interest.
