PM Receives Delegation of Asian Development Bank




Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received today Asian Development Bank (ADB), the region's newly appointed Director General of Central and West Asia Sean O'Sullivan delegation, which included Shane Rosenthal, Head of ADB's Office.

The Prime Minister congratulated Sean O'Sullivan and Shane Rosenthal, staff appointment and expressed confidence that they will receive a new impetus to the 10-year fruitful cooperation with the active support of the ADB. The Prime Minister appreciated the support of the implementation of many projects in our country every year and thanked Armenia for expansion, both in public and in private sector projects in the portfolio.

The ADB Country Director expressed gratitude for the effective cooperation of the Prime Minister and the newly appointed Head of ADB's Office of Shane Rosenthal. Mr. O'Sullivan expressed confidence that Armenia will be developing more reliable partnership with great vigor and expressed readiness of the Bank to continue to support projects in various sectors of our country.

The parties discussed the progress and prospects of cooperation and joint projects. They discussed the road, water supply and drainage, as well as cooperation in the energy sector.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance and priority of the Project "North-South" transport corridor, noting that it is of strategic importance for our country. Hovik Abrahamyan also touched upon the M 6, Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Georgian border highway reconstruction project, highlighting its implementation. ADB Country Director said that the ADB delegation was briefed on the way from Georgia to Armenia "North-South" highway construction works, as well as the preliminary work on the highway M-6, and the bank is ready to continue to facilitate the smooth implementation of these programs.

The sides discussed issues related to the ADB-supported "Sustainable Urban Development Investment Program", "Water Supply and Sanitation Project", "Infrastructure Sustainability Support Program", to highlight the continuity of this project and discuss further steps. Hovik Abrahamyan also touched upon the "School seismic safety improvement" program and expressed appreciation for ADB activities in the preparation process. In turn, Mr. O'Sullivan also welcomed the move and exercise, appreciating the Government's efforts to that end.

The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the joint work of ADB Country Office and relevant agencies, noting that a constructive and active cooperation. Hovik Abrahamyan expressed confidence that the partnership will continue to develop in an atmosphere of cooperation between Armenia and the Asian Development Bank, and the experience will be excellent for the successful implementation of joint projects.
