Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended today a gala event dedicated to Gladzor university founding 25th anniversary.

For significant contribution to the education of young generation, as well as on Gladzor university founding 25th anniversary, University Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor of Law, Doctor of Law Amalya Kharatyan was awarded the Prime Minister’s commemorative medal, while Professor at the Philosophy and Political Science Chair, Doctor of Biological Sciences Armen Simonyan, Head of the Department of Economics, Ph.D., Associate Professor Khoren Mkhitaryan, Associate Professor of Law, Ph.D. Armen Kinaktsyan, Lecturer at the Department of Economics, PhD in Economics and Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages (French) Aitsemnik Stamboltsyan were encouraged with Prime Minister’s diplomas.

The Prime Minister congratulated the university administration, faculty, students and alumni on the university’s 25th anniversary, wishing them new achievements. As the Prime Minister noted, founded in early 1990s, Gladzor University was among the first private higher educational institutions established in our country, which has already established itself as a higher educational institution and holds a well-deserved place in the Armenia’s academic system.

“Owing to continued reform, Gladzor University provides all the necessary conditions for modern education. It is a fact already that its graduates can be competitive in the high-quality labor market,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.

The Premier stressed that the Government appreciates the role played in the field of higher education by both public and private universities, and is implementing continued reforms in order to achieve greater competitiveness in the system of education.

“The public education policy principles – introduction of the Institute of accreditation, quality control mechanisms, internal and external auditing - should serve the same purpose. The Government is taking steps towards creating a favorable competitive environment in the education sector so that both public and private higher educational institutions could provide services of better quality,” the Prime Minister concluded.
