Attended by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, a social partnership agreement was signed today between the Government of Armenia and the Civil Cooperation Network for Strategic Programs. Before the signing ceremony Hovik Abrahamyan addressed the audience: “The Government of Armenia pays special attention to transparency and increased role of society in all spheres of activity. The purpose of this agreement is the establishment of the institute of social cooperation in the process of developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating strategic programs in the Republic of Armenia. The Government will be consistent in its policies aimed at increasing public accountability and cooperation with civil society.”

The Social Partnership Agreement was signed by Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan for the Government of Armenia and Chairman of the Civil Cooperation Network for Strategic Programs Sargis Sedrakyan on behalf of civil society.

The agreement is based on Prime Minister’s decree No 89-N of February 10, 2015 and the strategic programs of the Republic of Armenia, including the long-term strategic development program for 2014-2025.

Stressing the need for overcoming poverty and other social challenges in the country, the importance of strategic planning and social partnership in participatory processes, the signatories reaffirmed their readiness to contribute to strategic planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes.

Stressing the importance of the agreement, Chairman of the Civil Cooperation Network for Strategic Programs Sargis Sedrakyan said, “This is a good platform for a dialogue between the Government and civil society, which enables society to participate in the process of developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating strategic plans in Armenia. The Prime Minister is the Chairman of the coordinating unit. We will work in two groups at the level of ministers and deputy ministers, involving civil society representatives engaged in the relevant sectors. We will be holding debates and discussions in order to find the best solutions for our society.”
