PM Attends Microelectronics International Olympiad Awards Ceremony





Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended today the awards ceremony of the 10th International Olympiad in Microelectronics, held under the high patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

This year the Olympiad was attended by over 850 young people from around the world. Synopsys Armenia is the chief organizer of the event, while VivaCell-MTS is its main sponsor.

Welcoming the participants and organizers of the Olympiad, the Prime Minister said that it is an important platform for identifying young microelectronics specialists, assessing their achievements and thereby realizing the full potential available in the IT sector. Noting that the IT sector is one of the fastest growing industries in Armenia, the Premier stressed that it is among the Government’s priorities.

The Prime Minister said the progress in this sector is quite encouraging and prompts the Government to be consistent in the policy aimed at developing the IT industry.

Considering that technology and knowledge is the driving force of the economy, Hovik Abrahamyan said the Government will continue to support any initiative aimed at revealing and promoting highly skilled IT professionals. As the Prime Minister noted, strong with highly qualified young specialists, Armenia has a promising future in this field.

The Head of Government congratulated all the participants of the Olympiad, wishing them every success and new achievements. The Prime Minister thanked the initiators, organizers and sponsors for materializing the idea of the Olympiad.

Then, the Prime Minister handed a special prize to Grigor Hovsepyan, the winner in the Best Result from Armenia nomination.

In turn, Synopsys Armenia CEO Hovik Musayelyan awarded the Prime Minister the International Microelectronics Olympiad 10th Anniversary Medal. Note that the annually held International Microelectronics Olympiad is open to engineers and students up to the age of 30 both from Armenia and abroad.

The initiative seeks to stimulate the development of microelectronics in Armenia and other participating countries, identify and encourage young talents, raise awareness of microelectronics among young specialists, improve training and educational programs and form a community of young professionals in the field of microelectronics.
