PM Receives Newly Appointed Head of EU Delegation

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received newly appointed Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski.

Congratulating the Ambassador on assumption of the office, the Prime Minister underlined that the EU-Armenia cooperation is based on shared values, and Armenia is ready to step up interaction with the European Union.

Pleased with the EU Delegation’s efforts in our country, Hovik Abrahamyan noted that there is great potential for boosting bilateral relations in many spheres with a view to achieving greater results. The Premier wished every success to Piotr Świtalski during his tenure of office and expressed the hope that he would contribute to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Thankful for the warm reception, the newly appointed Head of EU Delegation said he would make every effort to deepen and upgrade bilateral ties. Ambassador Świtalski noted with satisfaction that the EU-Armenia cooperation agenda is hectic with both current and prospective programs. He stressed that the system of shared values is the cornerstone of EU-Armenia cooperation, and therefore, the European Union is interested in the further development of relations with our country.

The interlocutors exchanged views on cooperation prospects and development plans. The parties highly appreciated European Council President Donald Tusk’s visit to our country in July, 2015. In this context, the importance of high-level contacts was emphasized on either side as they provide the opportunity to discuss work in progress and identify new areas of cooperation.

Prime Minister Abrahamyan thanked the EU for continued financial and advisory assistance extended to Armenia, stressing that his government is actively cooperating with different EU institutions and is making consistent efforts to implement the standing agreements.
