PM Attends International Architects Day-Dedicated Event








Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan took part in an International Architects Day-dated event, which was held in the Conference Hall of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

Congratulating the architects on their professional holiday, Prime Minister Abrahamyan noted that the profession of architect has always been appreciated by the Armenian people, with its own special place and role.

“For the second year now, attaching particular importance to the international day of architects, as the head of the government, I wish to emphasize once again that we attach great importance to this traditionally national profession, the fruits of your creative thought, which as incarnated in life turn into buildings that serve our society,” the Prime Minister said, noting that proceeding from the existing rich traditions, the Armenian architects are creating buildings that we are proud of and which are the face of our country.

“Whenever we, the Armenians, take a look back trying to understand what we have given to the world, first of all we feel a glow of pride mentioning the Armenian architecture.” According to the Prime Minister, the Government is taking practical steps to implement an active investment policy: a number of investment programs are being developed that should help us boost the construction sector.

The Head of Government noted that numerous cultural, educational, sports and service centers gave opened their doors nationwide this year, including hotels run by world-renowned companies, which will promote tourism and economic development in the country.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government is developing draft laws in cooperation with the Ministry of Urban Development and the Union of Architects in an effort to solve the problems facing the area.

“Only in an atmosphere of cooperation we can attract investment and provide economic growth in the field of construction. Architectural thought should be active and effective in order to give life to new magnificent buildings,” Hovik Abrahamyan said wishing our architects fruitful work and every success to the benefit of Armenia and stressed that the Government will support them.

On the occasion of the international day of architects, as well as for significant contribution to the sphere of architecture and urban development, Hovik Abrahamyan awarded Prime Minister’s commemorative medals to Professor of the Urban Development Chair of the National University of Architecture and Engineering, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Ashot Kanayan, honored architect of Armenia, Professor of Architecture Albert Zurabyan and honored architect of Armenia Levon Ghalumyan.

Prime Minister’s Diplomas were presented to Professor of the Urban Development Chair of the National University of Architecture and Engineering Arsen Arustamyan and the National Museum-Institute of Architecture by the Ministry of Urban Development.

On the occasion of the International Architects Day, congratulatory remarks were also delivered by Minister of Urban Development Narek Sargsyan, Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan and Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan.
