Hovik Abrahamyan Welcomes Czech Foreign Minister-led Delegation

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek.

Congratulating Mr Zaorálek on the opening of the Czech Embassy in Armenia, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that it will contribute to the strengthening of multifaceted ties between the two countries.

Pleased with the current level of political dialogue between Armenia and the Czech Republic, Prime Minister Abrahamyan stressed the need for closer cooperation in different spheres of economy. The Head of Government noted the importance of similar visits, expressing confidence that they may give a new impetus to bilateral relations.

At the same time, the parties described as quite productive Prime Minister Abrahamyan’s official visit to the Czech Republic in early June, which resulted in a number of agreements of mutual interest.

As they talked about the development of economic cooperation, the interlocutors pointed to the wealth of potential available for the implementation of joint investment projects. In this context, they stressed the need for more vigorous activities on the part of the Armenian-Czech intergovernmental commission and the two chambers of commerce.

The Czech Foreign Minister advised that several Czech entrepreneurs are eager to implement various projects in Armenia, including in the fields of energy, construction, food industry, etc.

Referring to EU-Armenia relations, Lubomír Zaorálek said the Czech Republic is ready to promote their further development and deepening.

Coming to regional issues, the Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic highlighted the importance of a peaceful and negotiated settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the frame of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The parties took the opportunity to discuss a number of other issues concerning Armenian-Czech relations.
