Hovik Abrahamyan: Unified examination to be highly transparent and equitable in 2015
Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, a consultative meeting on the 2015 unified examination was held in the Office of Government as attended by the Director of Evaluation and Testing Center SNCO and the heads of testing centers.
Director of Evaluation and Testing Center SNCO Gagik Melikyan reported back the preparations for the unified examinations in 2015, which started as early as this January. He advised that there are 11 803 entrants and 34 exam centers set up nationwide this year, of which 10 in Yerevan, 24 in the regions of Armenia, with 2-3 centers established in some provinces.
The first examination will be held on June 2 and the last one on June 23. The list of heads of examination centers has already been approved. Developed on the basis of test collections, the tests have already been sent to England for printing and will be back on 25 May. Gagik Melikyan said that information on the organization of the examination process is available on the official website of Evaluation and Testing Center SNCO.
The Prime Minister asked about the problems faced by the examination centers, noting that the Government stands ready to render the necessary assistance. Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted the need for the examination centers to ensure efficiency and urged those responsible to do their utmost in order to achieve as much fairness and transparency in the examination process as possible.
“The unified examination should be highly transparent and fair in 2015. There was no serious public discontent in this matter in 2014, and I feel that the exams should be better in terms of quality this year. And most importantly, we need to restore the public’s trust,” the Head of Government pointed out.
The Prime Minister stressed that the unified examination will be at the center of his attention, and those responsible for irregularities will be brought to justice. The Premier said the Government seeks to provide fair and equitable competition conditions so that applicants could have the opportunity to exercise their skills and get higher education.
