Government Holds Cabinet Meeting

A Cabinet meeting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.

The Government approved the “One child - one computer” phased computerization program for Grade 1 pupils of secondary schools. The meeting noted that the pilot project had been funded by the Textbooks and Information-Communication Technology Foundation.

In a bid to boost domestic production, schoolchildren have been provided free ArmTab tablets. During the first round of the program - September 2015 through August 2019 - a pilot program will be implemented in Vayots-Dzor Marz. Proceeding to the second stage in September, 2019, the program will be expanded to cover one or two regions each academic year. In the third stage - September, 2025 - the program will be implemented in Yerevan.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said the program has aroused great public interest through mass media outlets. Therefore, it should be implemented openly and transparently.

The Government adopted a decision on property donation, which will enable Khndzorut and Aznaberd border communities in Vayots-Dzor Marz to build new gravity pipelines and solve irrigation problems for over 84 hectares of farmland.

In an effort to address the housing problems of those households domiciled in dormitories for many years, the Government decided to donate the premises so occupied to five individuals.

The Government amended a previous decree, by which it names duly authorized public entities to ensure compliance with the requirements of Eurasian Economic Union (Customs Union)-applied technical regulations.

The Government amended another decision, which used to deal with the inventory of those products prohibited or restricted for transportation across the customs territory of the Republic of Armenia. The decision streamlines the licensing regulations applicable to all products containing precious metals.

The meeting took note of the report (reporting period: 15.01.2015 - 31.03.2015) submitted by Minister-Chief of Government Staff David Haroutunyan on the status of the assignments issued in connection with the Cabinet resolution of January 15, 2015 “On approval of government program of activities and priorities for 2015.”

Teghout CJSC was granted a one-year license for import of devices containing radioactive materials. The equipment shall be applied to measure the density of materials used in ore processing.
