Government commission on ARMAVIA's Yerevan - Sochi flight crash met under the chairmanship of commission chairman, RA Minister for Territorial Administration Hovik Abrahamyan.

The meeting has discussed questions related to the use of funds credited to the special account available at the central office of exchequer of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, construction of a monument to the memory of the passengers killed in the air crash, as well as other issues of topical interest.

First Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Pavel Safaryan reported that 88 million 461 thousand drams had been credited to said account. The commission decided to allocate 85 million drams to the families of dead passengers as extra financial help at the rate of 1 million drams for each victim (in addition to the 1.5 million drams earmarked already by government decision). Also, it was decided to allocate 2 million drams to the families of 2 passengers of Armenian nationality from Georgia as no assistance had so far been provided to them by the Government of Georgia. 1 million 400 thousand drams will be earmarked for the design of a monument in Yerevan to the memory of killed passengers. Mayor of Yerevan Yervand Zakharyan informed that the monument was planned to be established in close vicinity to St. Sarkis church in Nor-Nork. He also advised that a commission had already been set up to invite bids for monument design.
