GoA-Microsoft Cooperation Expansion Prospects Discussed

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received Microsoft Director for Cooperation with Government and Public Sector Marc Dey.

Welcoming the guest, the Prime Minister said that the Government of Armenia is actively collaborating with IT companies and that the IT sector is among the Government’s priorities.

According to Hovik Abrahamyan, the Government has embarked upon a number of successful IT projects and initiatives in cooperation with several international companies, including Microsoft.

“We already have some joint achievements. The Microsoft Innovation Center has promoted the application of new ideas and the formation of start-up companies in our country,” he said, adding that among the most important initiatives is the founding of Microsoft’s IT Academy in the State Engineering University of Armenia.

Given the successful experience of bilateral cooperation, the head of government made a number of partnership furtherance-oriented recommendations of regional relevance.

Thankful for reception, Mark Dey said he was impressed with the status of GoA-Microsoft collaboration.

“Armenia has won international recognition for its achievements in the IT sector and, for this very reason, many countries are eager to learn your know-how,” Mark Dey noted.

Stressing that Microsoft is interested in the pursuit of long-term cooperation with the Armenian Government, he underscored our country’s possibilities to turn into a technological development hub.

The parties touched upon a number of other issues on bilateral agenda.
