Prime Minister: Government will focus on continued improvement of the educational system

On Knowledge Day and the launch of the new academic year, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended today the opening ceremonies for new-built and renovated school buildings in Masis and Vardashen communities of Ararat Marz.

AMD 460 million was allocated from the State budget to rebuild high school No. 5 in Masis town, which is intended for 245 students. 760 million drams were earmarked for the capital repair of the secondary school in Vardashen community. The educational institutions have been equipped with new furniture, teaching aids and other necessary school supplies.

Congratulating everybody on the start of the new schooling year on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and himself, the Premier said that it was a double joy for him to see those renovated and refurbished schools.

“Knowledge is our people’s future, and I would like to urge our students to use these golden years to gain as much knowledge as possible,” Hovik Abrahamyan noted. In the Prime Minister’s words, future generations in Armenia and Artsakh should be well-educated.

“The government’s goal is to shape a knowledge-based economy, and we will always promote education in Armenia. School is the pillar of the State and society; therefore, any government seeks to engineer an efficacious educational system. Knowledge is the locomotive of the economy in today’s world; it is also a prerequisite to make Armenia competitive on the international arena,” Hovik Abrahamyan said addressing the students.

The Prime Minister assured that mindful of the need to shape a knowledge-based and well-educated society, the Government of the Republic of Armenia shall not give up its commitment to improved education and will push ahead with the ongoing educational reform.

Hovik Abrahamyan toured several schools in Masis and Vardashen communities inspecting the work done so far and the amenities available to the students.
