Prime Minister: Armenia’s New Government Will Do Everything To Strengthen Artsakh

Later today answering journalists’ questions, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan summed up the outcome of the talks held on the first day of his working visit to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. Referring to the development prospects of Artsakh, Hovik Abrahamyan introduced the agreements reached during the latest meetings.

“We will implement all the agreements on terms and programs, and meetings and visits are important in this regard. Looking ahead, I commend the work of the Government of Artsakh: they have managed a double-digit economic growth providing the opportunity to develop the economy, raise wages and address welfare and security issues. The new Government of the Republic of Armenia has set itself the objective of strengthening our cooperation, so that we can have a powerful Artsakh in terms of both security and economy,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.

Talking about joint programs in the field of agriculture, the Prime Minister said: “Our ministries of agriculture have developed numerous joint programs, and the Government of Armenia stands ready to assist the Government of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to make full use of farmland resources. We need to strengthen and develop agriculture either in Armenia, since about 30 percent of land is out of use at this point of time.”

To strengthen ties in agriculture, Hovik Abrahamyan gave appropriate instructions to Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan. Stressing that any agreement and program should be consistent with the existing capacities, the head of government assured that they would be implemented as shortly as possible.

“The new Government of Armenia will do everything to strengthen Artsakh in all spheres. This should be a priority for us,” the Prime Minister concluded.
