Entrepreneurs should work in the same field, with the same rules of the game

The Government held a meeting today, chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.

Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister said, “International Family Day is marked today worldwide. The family is the foundation of our nation. A strong family is the guarantee of a strong State. I congratulate our people on the International Family Day and wish you all love, harmony and unity.”

Proceeding to the agenda, the Government extended till February 6, 2015 the temporary import customs regime applicable to the goods imported and not re-exported by Gloria Head Factory Ltd (Vanadzor).

With the following decision, the Cabinet extended till May 27, 2017 the VAT payment deadline for goods and equipment worth over 200 million drams, imported as part of the investment program implemented by Mavas Group Ltd.

Appealing to members of the Government, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan referred to his yesterday’s meeting: “Dear colleagues, I wish to inform you that yesterday I had a meeting with entrepreneurs and bank managers. We discussed many issues of cooperation, established the rules of the game. We agreed that we all must work in the same field, doing everything to come out of the “shadow.” That was our condition. They will be given the possibility to set up a level playing field on their own. I have instructed the Minister of Finance to follow up and monitor this process. I do believe that they should try to follow the rules of the game. If not, we will have to use the necessary leverages to achieve our goal. The matter was discussed without the press as we want the businesses to realize that the Government takes the matter in earnest, and we will make sure that everyone abides by the rules of the game.”

Another decision was passed to extend until June 1, 2017 the VAT payment deadline for goods and equipment imported by Glass World Company under their investment program to a total cost of over 200 million drams.

The Government continues to assist those Syrian Armenians seeking Armenian passports. The meeting decided to allocate over 41 million drams to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a view to settling the fees due to Treasury for passport-related transactions. 635 passports valid in foreign countries were issued in the first quarter of this year.

The Government decided to relieve Armen Ghularyan from the post of Governor of Tavush Marz according to his application. With the next decision, the Government appointed Hovik Abovyan to serve as Governor of Tavush Marz. The head of government congratulated the newly appointed Governor, wishing him successful tenure of office.

May 18 is the International Museum Day. On this occasion, all the museums will be open in Armenia on the night of 17 to 18 May. Following the established tradition, government members will take part in the Last School Bell-dated events on May 23.
