PM Receives IMF Armenia Mission Head

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Head of the IMF Armenia Mission Mark Horton.

Highly appreciative of bilateral cooperation, the parties expressed confidence that it will continue ahead. Mark Horton congratulated the Prime Minister on the fact that the IMF has approved a 125 million dollar-worth renewed financing facility for Armenia.

“The IMF commended the path covered by Armenia, the new program and the prospects for the future. All the directors, especially those from European countries, expressed support for Armenia,” the head of the IMF Mission said. In turn, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the new program will be implemented as successfully as the previous one.

Then the parties discussed Armenia’s current economic position, possible developments and the ongoing reforms. Highlighting the pension reform, Mark Horton expressed willingness to assist the Government in this matter.

Views were exchanged on regional developments. Mark Horton said the IMF stands ready to continue backing Armenia to overcome risks and challenges. The interlocutors took the time to talk about the improvement of the business environment and the attraction of investments.
