Armenia and Uruguay deepen Cooperation in the fields of Sport and Tourism







Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation led by Liliam Keshishian, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.

Noting with satisfaction that Armenia and Uruguay enjoy high-level mutual understanding in the political arena, the Prime Minister highlighted the fact that Uruguay was the first country in the world to officially recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide.

“Pleased that our feloow countrywoman occupies a high position in a friendly country, we are hopeful that your visit will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relationship. We have good traditions in the field of sports, while there is still a good deal of untapped potential in the field of tourism. Your visit will allow exploring new areas of cooperation and instruments to stimulate the expansion of ties in these fields,” Tigran Sargsyan said in his welcoming remarks.

The Guest expressed gratitude for a warm reception and shared her impressions of the visit.
In turn, Minister of Economy Vahram Avanesyan and Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Yuri Vardanyan briefed the Premier on the agreements reached and the outcome of their meetings with the Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Uruguay.

During the meeting, Tigran Sargsyan and Liliam Keshishian discussed cooperation prospects and possibilities for exchange of know-how, highlighting the steps toward facilitation of visa requirements between the two countries. The parties appreciated the role of the Armenian community of Uruguay in the development of bilateral relations.

The head of government asked Ms. Keshishian to convey his warm greetings to the Uruguayan authorities.

The following agreement was signed in the wake of the meeting: “On cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in the field of tourism.” The document was signed by Minister of Economy Vahram Avanesyan for the Government of the Republic of Armenia and by Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Liliam Keshishian on behalf of the Government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.
