Sօcioeconomic Conditions Improve In Gegharkunik Marz









Chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Government held today an outgoing session in Gavar, the central town of Gegharkounik Marz.

To begin with, Gegharkunik marz governor Rafik Grigoryan delivered a report on the socioeconomic situation in his province for the first nine months of 2013. During the reporting period, Gegharkunik Marz got the necessary quantity of subsidized diesel fuel, nitrogenous fertilizers, first-reproduction elite winter wheat, spring barley, sainfoin and superb clover seeds.

Owing to the support programs implemented by the government, over 2 thousand hectares of uncultivated arable land has been appropriated and driven into crop rotation in the communities during the past two years. Food grain and seed gross production has been significantly increased.

Lake Sevan along woth its drainage basin, as well as fauna and flora protection and reproduction remain the region’s top environmental priority. While the Government’s efforts have led to tangible results, it will take some time and new investments before all the problems are resolved. After the Cabinet took note of the Governor’s report, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan addressed the meeting.

In the meantime, the ministers and agency heads in attendance reported back the activities carried out in the region. The meeting took note of both their statements and the report made by the Minister-Chief of Government Staff concerning the outcome of the analysis of citizen’s petitions, complaints and suggestions.

“Social issues are among the main problems addressed to us. The Governor will have to ask our citizens to forward their applications yp the integrated social service center, where they can get the answers to any query of topical concern. In particular, people make inquiries about pensions, welfare benefits or whether they are eligible to get financial assistance. The integrated social service center that we commissioned today in Vardenis is just supposed to pursue the same objective, namely to give comprehensive answeres to citizens.”
