Tigran Sargsyan Welcomes Stefan Fule

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation led by Stefan Fule, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy.

Welcoming the guests, the Prime Minister noted with satisfaction that extensive work has been done to develop EU-Armenia relations for the last few years. Both sides emphasized the tangible progress with the ongoing talks over the Association Agreement and a deep and comprehensive free trade arrangement.

Concurrent with the Prime Minister, the EU Commissioner said, “Taking a retrospective glance, we can state that we have gone quite a long way together." He cited the upcoming Vilnius summit of this November as an important milestone on the way to developing bilateral relations which, according to Mr Füle, may overhaul the relations between the European Union and Eastern Partnership countries.

Appreciative of the financial and technical assistance provided by the European Union to Armenia’s reform effort, Tigran Sargsyan stressed the need for continuity as it helps boost reform effectiveness by filling the gaps and addressing the existing shortfalls.

Mr Fule assured that the EU will continue assisting Armenia financially, pointing to the possibility of providing extra resources considering Armenia’s high performance index.
