Shadow Turnover Of Electronic Media To Be Ruled Out

A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

The government approved a draft amendment to the law “On mandatory labeling (through stamp labels) of magnetic, optical, digital, laser or any other electronic media” to comply with the 5th edition of CIS-member States’ foreign economic activity commodity nomenclature. The bill will be submitted to the National Assembly in the manner established by law.

Reminding that one of the preceding meetings had addressed the sales problems faced by disk manufacturers and importers, the Prime Minister wanted to know the state of affairs in this area. As reported by the SRC, corresponding proposals had already been submitted to the Ministry of Economy. Additionally, a specific amount of CDs were said still available at shopping centers in need of stock-taking. The Premier ordered to work on and find out how much output is still available on the market in order to rule out shadow turnover.

The government amended the 2013 State budget law and one of its earlier decisions to ensure that AMD17mn is credited to the treasury in State duties due for the Armenian passports granted to Syrian Armenians in the first quarter of 2013. In this way, the government is supporting the Syrian Armenians currently residing in Armenia.

To enhance efficiency in budget management, the meeting decided to entrust the Scientific Committee by Ministry of Education and Science with the management of over AMD24mn-worth government interest in “Plast-Polymer” Research Institute.

To help “Sevan” national park meet its fiscal liabilities arising from forest cleanup activities, the Ministry of Nature protection was allocated over 46 million drams, subject to transfer to the National Park.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs was appointed to be Armenia’s authorized entity for implementation of CIS agreement on joint action to perpetuate memory of CIS nations’ heroism in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War. The arrangement seeks to discover, recover and provide for the maintenance of military cemeteries and monuments, as well as to prevent the incidences of vandalism.

The Ministry of Defense was named as Armenia’s competent authority for enforcement of the CIS agreement on coordinated action between member-States’ air defense forces upon receipt of a notification on aircraft kidnapping.

The government rescheduled the 2013 State budget law and amended a previous decree to allow for the release of funds under the European Neighborhood and Partnership Program-mediated grant facility on Black Sea countries’ joint action for 2007-2013. The amendment is meant to ensure Armenia’s participation in the program and compliance with its contractual obligations.
