PM Introduced To Rolling-Stock Maintenance Unit, Locomotive Depot, Techno-Park Repairs In Gyumri










On Republic Day, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan traveled to Shirak Marz to join President of Russian Railways OJSC Vladimir Yakunin in attendance of the opening of a rolling-stock maintenance unit and a locomotive depot in Gyumri.

First of all, Tigran Sargsyan congratulated everyone on Republic Day, noting that the birth of the First Republic was crucial to the Armenian people as it ushered in the beginning of our modern history.

Concerning the development of the railway system in Armenia, the Prime Minister thanked Vladimir Yakunin for effective implementation of the concession contract by South Caucasian Railways.

“Freight and passenger transportations grow from year to year. Large amount of work is being carried out to repair and maintain the railway tracks. We can see that the railway system is gradually developing in Armenia, which is yet another example of the ever strengthening Armenian-Russian relationship,” the head of government said.

The bulk of Gyumri locomotive depot refurbishment activities started in 2010. 93.5 million rubles have already been invested, with 48.4 million spent for the repair of the rolling-stock maintenance unit and the purchase of relevant equipment.

Locomotive depot equipment was upgraded significantly and replenished with 25 core units and 6 new pieces of diagnostic equipment. New sites are being set up for the repair of wheel sets, engines and air reservoir testing. All this will improve the quality of maintenance work at the locomotive depot and thereby enhance the safety of railway traffic in Armenia.

35.1 million rubles have been spent for the reconstruction of the rolling-stock maintenance unit, with 20 million ruble-worth equipment purchased to that end.

The Technology Center (Techno-Park) was Tigran Sargsyan’s next port of call in Gyumri. The Premier was assured that construction work is carried out in accordance with the proposed schedule and with high quality. It is due to come to completion by this yearend. Several international companies have already filed bids for unfolding activities in the Park.

In turn, D-Link is going to build a new facility to house the Company’s affiliates.

Major work on the reconstruction of Gyumri locomotive depot began in 2010, which was invested 93.5 million rubles, still 48.4 million was directed to the repair of rolling stock and the purchase of manufacturing equipment. Park equipment locomotive depot significantly upgraded, purchased 25 units of core and 6 units of diagnostic equipment. Currently, new areas were provided for the repair of wheel sets, electric motors and test the air reservoirs. All this will improve the quality of the ongoing work in the locomotive depot and thereby increase the level of security in Armenia by rail.

For the reconstruction of car-repair depot had invested 35.1 million rubles, process equipment purchased for 20 million rubles.

Then Tigran Sargsyan visited the main building of Gyumri Technology Center and observed the overhaul of the latter. The Prime Minister assured that the construction works are carried out in accordance with the planned schedule and with high quality. It is planned to complete the construction work by the end of 2013. From various international companies have already received requests for activity in the industrial park.

In turn, the international company D-Link plans to establish a new structure in the industrial park, which will be placed affiliates.
