PM Attends CIS Heads of Government Council Meeting





The Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan-led government delegation attended a CIS Council of Heads of Government meeting in Yalta, which included over two dozen issues.

The heads of government adopted an action plan for establishment and development of information society within the CIS framework by 2015. Reference was made of cooperation between the CIS countries in the field of telecommunications.

The meeting adopted a complex program of innovative measures by member-countries for the period 2012-2014.

During a narrow-format meeting, the heads of government backed Uzbekistan’s joining to the the Free Trade Agreement, which is expected to be completed by this yearend. A joint statement was signed to the effect that five countries, including Armenia, have ratified the free trade zone agreement.

Prime Minister Sargsyan attended a business conference referred to as “Investment opportunities and economic cooperation within the CIS,” held on the sidelines of “Yalta business meetings.”

Note that the government delegation is composed of Chief of Government Staff David Sargsyan, Minister of Finance Vache Gabrielyan, First Deputy Minister of Economy Karine Minasyan, Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharian and other officials.
