PM Gets Acquainted With Candle Project Activities




Chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Candle Project Coordinating Council held a consultative meeting at the Candle Accelerator Research Institute. Before proceeding to agenda, the head of government toured the premises to get acquainted with the laboratories, ongoing activities and upcoming projects.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the AREAL linear accelerator construction process.

In particular, numerous meetings were said to have been held and corresponding agreements reached over the past few months with the heads of French, German and Swiss accelerator centers. As a result, €1.5mn worth of equipment has been imported for construction of AREAL linear accelerator which is due to be launched next year. A group of young experts have been trained in foreign countries.

The Prime Minister instructed the heads of relevant departments to put the Candle Project on the agenda of scientific-technical cooperation with Russia, France, Germany, Switzerland and China.

AREAL linear accelerator will help get ultra short electronic impulses of low-emission, which is a priority focus to the world’s leading centers. It is of high scientific and practical importance in the field of physics, biology, chemistry and experimental research.

The project is implemented in cooperation with the German DESY, Swiss PSI, the Stamford SLAG centers and the Novosibirsk Nuclear Physics Institute.
