Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received outgoing Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Seied Ali Saghayian.

”I believe our cooperation was quite effective during these years. Numerous projects have been designed and implemented with friendly Iran through your personal contribution,” the Prime Minister said.

Tigran Sargsyan thanked the Ambassador for his tenure-long efforts toward the strengthening of bilateral ties.

Seied Ali Saghayian noted that subject to the political will of the two heads of State, the Armenian-Iranian strategic relations have enhanced regional stability and peace.

Pleased with the pace of economic exchanges, the parties stated that bilateral trade turnover rose to USD 323mn from 180 million in 2007-2011.

“We should seek implementation of all the proposed projects. In this respect, I would highlight the importance of Iran-Armenia oil and gas pipelines, interregional cooperation and the construction of a third electricity transmission line,” Seyed Ali Saghayian said assuring that he will continue strengthening and developing bilateral relations.

The Ambassador advised that his successor will arrive in Yerevan before yearend to promote the implementation of the Armenian-Iranian joint projects.
