The Government Discussed Women’s Role Raising Issues




Sitting of the Council of Women’s Affairs took place today, chaired by the Prime Minister Tigran Sarsgyan.
Turning to the issues on the agenda, the participants of the sitting made reports on the implementation of projects in education, culture, health and other sectors. Based on the results of the discussions and the recommendations of the Board members, the decision was made to present the projects that are to be implemented in 2012 to the council secretariat by December 15.
It was also decided to prepare the 2010 RA national report on a high level, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, and to create an inter-ministerial committee to present it at the UN Committee in 2013.
Afterwards, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Vache Terteryan presented the annual program process on Gender Policy in the context of Armenia’s Gander policy of 2011-2015, implemented by the regional administrations.
The participants of the sitting also discussed other issues related to increasing the women’s role in the social-political life.
