CIS Member States’ Agreement Of Historic Importance





A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

Opening the meeting, the Prime Minister referred to the free trade zone arrangement signed between the CIS member States, describing it as a document of historic importance. The Prime Minister also spoke on the World Bank-reported latest findings and the past 9 months’ performance.

To ensure that search and rescue activities at the site of emergency in Tavush marz of Armenia, the Government earmarked AMD 65,642,600 from its reserve fund to the Rescue Service of Armenia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, of which 5 million in relief for the families of five victims. In this connection, the head of government advised that the governors of Tavush and Lori marzes had been directed accordingly.

The damaged section of Vanadzor-Bagratashen interstate highway is about 300 meters long, with an average height of 10-15 meters. 150 MES staff and 20 units of rescue and other special equipment were simultaneously involved in rescue activities.

As instructed by the Prime Minister, the environmental issue of Trechkan waterfall was commented on by the Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia. A fact-finding mission from the Ministry was said to have called at the waterfall area in order to formulate a package of environmental restrictions. Since at the time of their visit the waterfall was operating with a normal of flow of 400-500 liters per second, the latter was taken as a benchmark threshold for water intake. A second condition is that the HPP will be suspended during three summer months. The developer will not be allowed to continue commissioning the facility unless it complies with the foregoing restrictions to be stipulated in the new text of the license.

The Cabinet authorized Agroholding LLC to import a number of unlisted biological vaccines from 4 Russian Federation-registered entities which have proved effective in preventing infectious diseases of farm animals.

The Ministry of Transport and Communication was allocated AMD1, 317, 595.400 for transfer of communication lines - cables, gas-mains, overhead power lines and water piping – at Ashtarak-Talin section of North-South road corridor.

The meeting amended a previous government decree in a bid to provide for continuity of the “Affordable housing for young households” program.

The meeting decided to extend until January 18, 2021 the free enjoyment contract signed with Hans Christian Kofoed Foundation for the educational complex operational at 70, Vardashen 9, in Yerevan. The Foundation, which is a non-profit organization with charitable, social, cultural, educational and other socially beneficial goals, operates with the material and moral support of the Copenhagen-based Kofoed School.
