7th Annual DigiTech ICT/High Tech Expo Kicks Off

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended today the launch of the 7th annual DigiTech ICT/High Tech Expo at Sport and Concert Complex after Karen Demirchyan.Tigran Sargsyan and NKR Prime Minister Ara Haroutunyan walked round the stands getting acquainted with guest companies’ innovational solutions, products and services. By the way, Artsakh boasts its first appearance at the exposition with a stand of its own.

“The fact that the number of participants increased by 70% testifies that DigiTech has its unique place in the sphere of IT development as a platform which offers high-tech companies the opportunity of presenting their new products and services, as well as indicates the pace and areas of development in our country.”

The telecommunications and IT sector was proclaimed a priority by the government in 2005. We can state now that thanks to public-private sector partnership, a solid groundwork has been built up to make of it a key motive power of economy.”

According to Tigran Sargsyan, there are several hundreds of domestic enterprises operational in this sphere, with some 10 thousand jobs available to date.

The head of government noted that during the exposition Armenia will have the opportunity of making a display of such new projects as may make of our country a serious hub on the IT map.

The yearly output of the IT sector has already touched the mark USD 200mn in Armenia. As assured by the Premier, this figure is due to rise with a progressive pace for in the coming years.

115 companies are participating in the expo this year, evidencing a 70% increase against last year’s attendance. DigiTech aims to create an investment-friendly atmosphere for interaction between high-tech companies, consumers and society with a special focus on international cooperation. It enables a more accurate view of Armenia’s IT market, including its achievements, shortfalls and challenges.

A job fair will be held on the sidelines of the exposition. Some 30-40 companies will state their vacancies and training courses. Those eager to be recruited by IT companies will have the chance of being introduced to would-be employers in order to get a job or the possibility of being mentioned in employers’ databases.
