Tigran Sargsyan Congratulates Chinese People On National Holiday

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended a gala reception dedicated the national holiday of the People’s Republic of China.

Congratulating those present on the holiday, the head of government wished the people of China peace, happiness, well-being and prosperity. Tigran Sargsyan stated in part: “On this festive occasion, it is my distinct pleasure to note that bilateral relations have been on the upgrade recently.

In my capacity of Prime Minister, I am pleased to state the steady dynamics of growth in bilateral trade and, as a whole, the development of economic cooperation between our countries. Without going into the details, I would like to note the constant growth in trade turnover.

The following spheres stand out against the background of bilateral economic exchanges: mining, chemical industry, tourism, infrastructures, agriculture and high technologies. Shansi-Nairit crowned our joint efforts of which we are highly proud.

The Armenian-Chinese business forum which was held last April is to be mentioned as another tool for improving trade and economic cooperation. The forum which, as a matter of fact, became the most sizeable joint action ever hosted by our two countries, sought to promote new contacts and expose new spheres of mutually advantageous cooperation. In this respect, I should note the activities of the Armenian-Chinese intergovernmental commission which came together for a regular sitting last April.

Such a good pace of growth in trade and economic cooperation amid continued challenges as experienced by many countries in the world was obviously due to your country’s unprecedented development of last decades. However, I am convinced that we would not have achieved such intensity in the development of bilateral ties if we had not enjoyed a strong political groundwork and a high level of mutual understanding, characteristic to our relations.

Armenia is keen on developing all-round relationship with China - one of today’s uncontested leaders in global economics. We are full of determination to undertake all necessary steps not only to keep up the current dynamics of interaction, but also to seek new ways for a mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Armenia.

On this festive day, I would like to thank the People’s Republic of China for continued assistance to the Republic of Armenia. The Chinese government provides support to the Armenian government on a yearly basis which indeed is vital to our country’s social and economic development.

An official ceremony of delivery of 88 ambulances to the cost of 40 million yuans was held in June, 2011 in Yerevan. Underway is a project on delivery of buses for public transport. I would like to take this opportunity to extend a vote of thanks to the Government of China for assistance.

Humanitarian cooperation is another highlight of our bilateral agenda. Culture days along with an array of other events are regularly held in our two countries. In this context, I should note the activities of the Armenia branch of the Confucius Institute operational at the Yerevan State Linguistics University after V. Bryusov.

Considering the growing interest of Armenian students to getting trained in China, the Chinese side has increased by 20 the number government-subsidized scholarships for the academic year of 2012-2013.

In conclusion, reiterating my congratulations, I wish you all happiness and well-being.”

Pleased with the current pace of cooperation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Tian Changchun expressed confidence that bilateral ties will keep on upwards to the benefit of the two States and peoples.

“Armenian-Chinese ties are on the upgrade due to which we have expanded the scope of cooperation as evidenced by increased trade turnover between the two countries,” the Ambassador pointed out.

In conclusion, he congratulated Tigran Sargsyan on the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
