Prime Minister Visits SPAYKA Company

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited Spayka international freight carrier which implements fresh fruit export-targeted investment programs under the brand of Ararat-Fruit.

The company has built up export-oriented infrastructures for fresh and processed agricultural products. A total sum equivalent of over USD 45mn has been invested to date. The goal of Spayka’s investment program is to ensure a sustainable niche for Armenian products on foreign food markets and promote Armenian exports.

The head of government was introduced to the capacities available at the company, including the freezing, tracking facilities, as well as some other operating systems.

At the end of his tour, Prime Minister Sargsyan met with those farmers supplying farm products to the company.

Spayka LLC was founded in 2001. Under the government decrees of July 1, 2010 and February 3, 2011, Spayka was granted a VAT deferment effective through July 1, 2013 and February 1, 2014 respectively for imports of some types of goods to the amount exceeding AMD 300mn.

In the period between 2010 and 2012, the company will implement investment programs to a total cost of USD 100mn resulting in 1900 new jobs. Note that Spayka had 65 full-time workers in 2009 up to nearly 450 jobs currently available.
