Account Taken of Greens’ Proposals




A cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

The cabinet approved a program for preservation and maintenance of historical and architectural monuments in Khosrov public forest-reserve providing for the monitoring and restoration of over 300 such monuments available on the site. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted that the decision comes to quell the fears expressed by environmental organizations concerning the challenges faced in the protected zone.

Ahead of the launch of a system of automated cross-border railroad communication ticket sales, as well as in order to enable uniform passenger traffic papers applicable between South-Caucasus Railway CJSC and Georgian Railway LLC, the meeting amended a previous decree referring to the list, sample forms and order of use of railway traffic papers. The new system is expected to improve the quality of passenger services thanks to a system of online ticket sales.

Amending two previous decrees concerning the north-south road corridor investment program, the cabinet laid down clearer principles for compensation paid against alienated land, buildings and businesses in those areas recognized to be zones of prevailing public interest.

Amending another decree, the government established that chess will be taught at grammar schools in Armenia as of the forthcoming academic year at the rate of two lessons a week.

The meeting modified two other decrees stipulating that the churches and Church-owned facilities built by individual philanthropists without due formality will be exempted from the payment of necessary fees in case there is a preliminary handover arrangement with the Armenian Apostolic Church (Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin).

To enhance the authorized entity’s work efficiency, the Executive amended a previous decree referred to as “On approval of labeling rules and procedures for identification of specific lots of food products.” This new decision incorporates the imported products making it possible to trace back the commodities both manufactured or packed in Armenia and imported from abroad.

To track the future trends of configuration changes at Lake Sevan and improve them ahead, the meeting approved a program of ecosystem conservation and hydrological monitoring as developed by the presidential commission on Lake Sevan problems.

Amending another decree passed earlier, the government made additions to the list of those States the citizens of which can only get invitation-based entry visas by approaching Armenia’s diplomatic and consular missions accredited in foreign countries. The revised list includes Cote-d’Ivoire, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Mauritania and Tunisia.

The reworded decision seeks to streamline and get under control the entry into the Republic of Armenia of travelers and transiting passengers from the aforementioned countries.

In conclusion, the government decided to relieve Aram Kocharyan from the office of Lori marz governor as of August 12, 2011.
