Prime Minister Visits Gyumri





Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited today the newly built Mush 2 district of Gyumri to get a first-hand view of construction activities, as well as to hold a working consultation involving Minister of Urban Development Vardan Vardanyan and other responsible officials.

Note that 1 856 apartments are due to be built in the district and commissioned this October. Following the consultation, Minister Vardanyan told journalists that the developers meet both the quality standards and the stipulated deadlines.

The Prime Minister next attended the opening of the new building of the Oyunjyan School as rebuilt with the support of New York-based doctor and philanthropist Hovhannes Oyunjyan.

Greeting those present on behalf of the government, Tigran Sargsyan congratulated them on the event. As noted by the head of government, the construction of new educational institutions has a special meaning as the pledge of our people’s continued survival. In this respect, Tigran Sargsyan appreciated philanthropists’ thoughtfulness of educational establishments. “Hundreds of talented graduates of this educational institution are going to serve their homeland and leave a noticeable trace in the history of the Armenian people,” the Prime Minister said.

According to the head of government, competition between nations in the modern world will take place in the field of knowledge and intellect. Development is impossible without good education. Hovhannes Oyunjyan was awarded the Prime Minister’s commemorative medal for many good deeds and several charity programs implemented in Homeland

Over USD 800.000 has been spent on the reconstruction of Oyunjyan School’s new block covering the overhaul of 1500sq.m.-wide premises and the full equipment of the school which boasts a linguaphone classroom and a gym hall in addition to classrooms and the computer lounge.
