Pension laws being codified

A cabinet sitting was held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

In line with the law on State pensions, effective since January 1, 2011, the government passed about a dozen of decisions to streamline the relationship associated with pension assignment, reassessment and payment.

The government made a decision to provide monthly payments of AMD 25 thousand to Genocide survivors born before 1915 in the Ottoman Turkey as a supplement of pension.

Mindful of consumers’ needs, the executive amended a previous decree to urge increased level of fresh milk in domestic milk products. Excessive use of dry milk reduces the amount and cost of fresh milk procurements which impedes the development of animal husbandry in the country. Today’s decision will help boost competition on the market of dairy products to the benefit of Armenian consumers.

Amending a preceding decision, the cabinet introduced a simplified procedure for customs clearance of goods and commodities carried on interstate passenger trains. The meeting next amended another decree to envisage an army mobilization- and civil defense-related item in the statutory functions of the Ministry of Transport and Communication.

The government next decided to donate to the Yerevan municipal community the AMD 1,025,866.800 worth of bio-gas collecting and burning facility which was constructed by Shimizu Corporation on the site of the Nubarashen rubbish-heap.

In an effort to simplify the citizenship-related paperwork, the executive amended the list of those documents and certificates required for getting or giving up Armenian citizenship.

The meeting next approved as follows:
- The 2011 cost estimates of extra-budgetary spending on health ministry-backed grant programs in the frame of support for services under the national program of immunity prevention;
- The procedure to follow in running the special treasury account established with a view to implementing the 2007-2015 cattle-breeding program;
- The assignment of 1684 second university degree positions for State-financed full scholarships in the 2011-2012 academic year, of which 387 with the possibility of army service postponement;
- The 2011 cost estimate of extra-budgetary spending on the program of international and donor organizations’ support for the staff of the office of human rights defender;
- The agenda of the “Diaspora’s prospects in the Globalized World” international conference to be held on May 26-27, 2011 in Yerevan;

The meeting also looked at a series of legislative initiatives which will be submitted to the National Assembly in the manner established by law.
