Armenian Prime Minister and Swiss President discuss prospects of bilateral cooperation

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with President of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey on the sidelines of Swiss President’s official visit to Armenia.

On behalf of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, a working breakfast was hosted in honor of the high-ranking guest during which the head of the Armenian government described the current status and the development prospects of Armenia’s economy. At the request of the President of Switzerland, Tigran Sargsyan presented his government’s anti-crisis efforts. The Prime Minister touched upon the course of reforms and the government’s strategy of proportional development of territories.

Pleased with the current status of bilateral relations, Tigran Sargsyan and Micheline Calmy-Rey discussed possibilities for economic interaction. In particular, the necessity of making a better use of the potential available in the spheres of tourism, information technologies, education and agriculture was emphasized on either side. Mindful of promoting direct ties between educational institutions, the interlocutors focused on student exchange programs. The possibility of getting expert assistance on the part of Switzerland has also been discussed.

In conclusion, the parties looked at some regional issues.
