MCA-Armenia SNCO Governing Council meets in Government




The Governing Council of Millenium Challenge Account-Armenia SNCO met at the Office of Government, presided at by GC Chairman, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

The Council has discussed and approved a package of application and attached documents for the 19th disbursement under the program to be submitted to the MCC for endorsement.

Under the mentioned request, the MCA-Armenia expects to be allocated USD 19,948,405 for the second quarter of 2011 of which USD 19,522,507 will cover activities under Irrigated Agriculture Project with the balance to be used for monitoring, evaluation, program management and oversight purposes.

The council discussed and endorsed as follows: prolongation of term of contract for the first package of tertiary canal rehabilitation activities under the Irrigation Infrastructures component, prolongations of term of contract for the conduct of qualitative analysis of all the key components of the MCA-Armenia program, as well as constructions of an extra unit of Shenik gravity system and further 10 tertiary canals.

The meeting heard a progress report regarding the reconstruction of a dam at Noyemberian – 1 pump station and the process of approval of a package of legal acts and amendments stemming from the strategy of irrigation under Water-to-Market Project.
