The government should be quick in responding to public concerns

A cabinet sitting was held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan

Addressing those present, the Prime Minister said that the government should be quick in responding to public concerns. Tigran Sargsyan meant in particular the problems faced during the payment of January pensions concerning which the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs gave clarifications.

The government amended a previous decision extending the deadline set for the payment of January cash register ticket bonuses from 31.01.2011 to 05.02.2011. A single day has been established for the drawing of lots, namely the second Saturday of each month. The State Revenue Committee by the Government was told to take all the necessary steps to prevent people from standing in long queues as it was the case in January.

The government made redistributions in the 2011 State budget amending a previous decree to allocate AMD 73.362.1 thousand to the Staff of the State Social Security Service by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for final settlement of wages to the employees of “Payment Service” local units.

The meeting next endorsed the preliminary version of Vanadzor-Fioletovo railroad project. All State agencies concerned were told to join the respective community heads within a month of the receipt of the feasibility study to formulate proposals regarding land category changes and the need for acknowledging overwhelming public interest over the plots of land owned by private individuals. The project is of top strategic and economic importance to the Republic of Armenia as the new 31.2km-long railroad section will bridge Aghstafa-Idjevan-Hrazdan-Yerevan and Tbilisi-Masis-Gyumri destinations. Vanadzor-Fioletovo railroad section is supposed to be instrumental in making a railroad transit hub of Armenia.

The government amended a previous decision to allocate AMD 8000.0 thousand to the Ministry of Transport and Communication for the procurement of geological and surveying services for the capital repair of the 39th kilometer of Vanadzor-Dilijan highway.

The Executive approved a package of amendments to the laws on property tax and land tax in order to keep on improving the tax administration and liberalizing the business environment.

In conclusion, the meeting backed a pilot funding scheme for handicapped children’s training in the general educational schools of Tavush marz to promote inclusive training facilities in the marz and assess Armenia’s general school network’s possibilities in the given sphere.
