Credits to be extended to 300 young families this year

A cabinet sitting was held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan

The government decided to allocate AMD 20000.0 thousand to the Ministry of Finance in order to co-finance the interest rate for the credits available under the Affordable Housing for Young Households State-supported program. Noting that the program was a highlight on the President’s electoral program, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said it might be implemented successfully through joint efforts of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Republic Armenia. 223 credits had been extended under the program by December 28, 2010. 300 more credit facilities will be made available during this year, with a special focus placed on the provinces.

The government of Republic Armenia has approved as follows:

- The technical standards applicable in the field of food safety, the special conditions applicable to fish products. The Prime Minister said that serious potential is built up in fishing industry. The production of fresh fish has essentially increased in 2010. This year not only do we need to keep up the trends of growth, but also to stimulate the exports as this is a strategic sphere, too.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noticed that some of the ministries have such offices which used to carry out the programs of the World Bank and now – those of the ministries as well. According to the bill, each entity engaged in agricultural activities and functioning according to a contract on joint operations will henceforth act as an individual taxpayer. This business-friendly bill was initiated by the Public Council of Armenia.

The government next approved a bill on amendments to the law on bankruptcy to fight instances of statements of self-bankruptcy on the part of unscrupulous borrowers.

All the aforementioned bills will be submitted to the National Assembly in the manner established by law.
