The Prime Minister attends International Student Day-dedicated events





On International Student Day, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited today the Yerevan State Architecture and Construction University and the Armenian State Engineering University.

The Prime Minister’s first stop was at the Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction where he attended the opening of the new-built “Studio” block. The block was built through the joint efforts of the University and the Union of Builders and Architects. AMD 180mn was spent during the two-year-long construction work. The building is designed by architect Tigran Barseghyan.

The Prime Minister toured the building consisting of a recreational facility and 3 classrooms. The chess club is named after 9th world champion Tigran Petrosyan. One of the specialized classrooms is named after well-known Armenian architect, academician Jim Torosyan. When in the exhibits hall, the Prime Minister was presented with a painting authored by teaching staff member Slava Papinyan.

Arrived in the Energy Faculty, the head of government visited the regional nuclear safety center of 6-year standing where he attended a lecture. The center keeps on being upgraded with new computer programs. Lectures and training are held on a regular basis, administered by local and foreign experts. USD 60.000 has already been spent on such activities.

In the State Engineering University of Armenia, the Prime Minister attended the opening of a computerized classroom of nuclear safety, operational on the basis of a “Hayatom”-developed program to a total cost of USD 28.000. The classroom was made possible owing to the International Atomic Energy Agency and the USAID.

During his stay in the University, Tigran Sargsyan visited an electronic reading room, set up in 2007 and intended for university school who can use both local and international library resources.

In the conference hall after late Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan, the head of government met with the students of a number of Yerevan-based universities.

Later today a Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan-hosted gala event was held in the House of Receptions of the Government dedicated to International Student Day.

Congratulating those present on the occasion, the Prime Minister stated in part, “We have organized this event to get in touch with you and congratulate each other.”

The function went off in an atmosphere of sincere dialog enabling an excited exchange of views among the participants.
