Cyclotron purchase agreement signed





Attended by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Government of Armenia and IBA Molecular signed today a cyclotron purchase agreement for the Armenian Excellence Center of Oncology in the Office of Government.

For the Government of the Republic of Armenia and IBA Molecular, the agreement was signed by minister of economy Nerces Yeritsyan and company marketing and sales director Peter Leitner respectively.

There was also signed a loan agreement between the Armenian government and the Belgian KBCNV bank. For the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Bank, the agreement was signed by minister of finance Tigran Davtyan and KBCNV senior commercial lending executive Girt Outhers respectively. Under the stated arrangement, the Government of Armenia will be provided Euro 5080629.52 in preferential loan for the purchase of the proton accelerator.

The above two instruments will launch the first stage of the activities of the Armenian Excellence Center of Oncology – fabrication of radio isotopes in Armenia - which is the joint undertaking of the ministries of healthcare and economy, on the one hand, and Armenia’s national competitiveness fund, on the other. Note that under this program Yerevan will host an excellence center consisting in a radio-isotope production complex, a positron emission-based diagnostic center and proctology clinics.

At the news conference that followed the signing ceremony, Minister of Economy Nerces Yeritsyan commented on the terms stating in part, “The loan is available for a period of 11 years with a 3-year grace period and zero interest.

The Center will be operational in some 18 months or about two years.
