The Prime Minister welcomes Iranian Energy Minister



Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation led by Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou who is in Armenia on a two-day working visit.
Greeting theguest, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the current visit will help boost bilateral ties and cooperation.
In stressing that the energy sector has always led the way in developing Armenia-Iran relationship, Tigran Sargsyan said it could open up new opportunities for their furtherance and expansion.
Conveying warm greetings on behalf of the President and the people of Iran, Majid Namjou assured of his country’s readiness to strengthen relations with Armenia in the field of energy, in particular. The construction of the Meghri HPP was highlighted in this context.
Noting that cooperation between the two countries has been expanding from year to year, Tigran Sargsyan stressed the need for showing consistency in the implementation the Office of Government joint undertakings.
The political arrangement made by the two presidents concerning the construction of a railway and a pipeline for the carriage of oil products was said in process of realization through close interaction. Tigran Sargsyan said these key infrastructures might give a strong boost to economic development in both countries. In this context, the parties emphasized the need for timely implementation of the ongoing projects.
The importance of boosting public-private sector cooperation and mutual investments in water management, road building and telecommunications was emphasized on either side.
