Border region facing problems in focus

The government traveled today to Tavush marz where they met in a prime minister-chaired visiting cabinet-session in Idjevan town.

First, the meeting took note of Tavush marz governor Armen Ghularyan’s report on the 2010 social-economic situation and ongoing actions. The governor presented the per-sector breakdown of priority tasks and answered the questions of government members.

The government approved a cultural agenda for the marz featuring refurbishment or rehabilitation of monastic complexes, museums, libraries and houses of culture.

The Executive backed the proposal on reviving as of 2011 the Idjevan symposium of sculpture which was effective from 1985 to 1991 involving 95 sculptors from some 20 countries whose works still keep on giving relish to the town.

The Government took note of Chief of Government Staff David Sargsyan’s analytical report on the status of those proposals and applications received by central authorities from Tavush marz residents.

RA Minister of Defense Seiran Ohanyan came up with a statement of such safety measures as were implemented in order to ensure Tavush marz population’s security.

The agenda items and the decision passed at the meeting were summarized by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

The government endorsed the 2011 State budget bill. In this context, economic decline was said to have slowed down in August: the crisis is over in Armenia. The government will henceforth take steps to ensure sustained development in an effort to catch up with the pre-crisis high pace of growth as soon as possible.

According to Tigran Sargsyan, the State budget bill has been discussed by all stakeholders and complies with government’s policy line. 2011 was said to be a period of hard work.

To meet the requirements of the July 1, 1970 Geneva covenant on the status of international motor traffic crews, the RA Ministry of Transport and Communications was appointed to be the regulatory authority for introduction of tachometers in our country. The decision was passed considering that Republic of Armenia-registered trucks will be denied access to the territories of signatory States as of 2011.

The government next decided to privatize in favor of Liana Bagramyan and Stella Kocharyan the hostel premises now occupied by them. The aforementioned persons fled Azerbaijan and got Armenian citizenship in the period between 1988 and 1992.

Vaiots-Dzor marz administration was allocated AMD 14,765.0 thousand in preparation for Momik’s 750th birth anniversary. This amount will be used to install gas in the geological museum and upgrade the Momik Park of Yeghegnadzor, as well as to publish a study on Momik’s activity in English.

The government approved a program of activities for Ministry of Finance as stipulated in the national security strategy of the Republic of Armenia. According to the program, the Ministry shall provide for macroeconomic stability and abide by sustained growth-targeted fiscal policy. It will take steps toward developing Armenia’s financial and financial intermediation systems and enhancing pension system efficiency.

The meeting endorsed the 2011 action plan for the maintenance, preservation and reproduction of Lake Sevan’s ecosystem which is to be included in FY2011 State budget bill.

The session agenda featured some 50 items altogether.
