Tigran Sargsyan says the program of his official visit to the PRC hectic and exciting

At today’s meeting with journalists at Shanghai Expo - 2010, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said the program of his official visit to the PRC was quite hectic and exciting. First of all, the head of government underscored the importance of his meeting with PRC First Vice-Premier Li Kexian at which prospects for development of Armenia-China relationship were discussed. In particular, Shansi-Nairit JV, the first large Armenian technologies-based synthetic rubber manufacturing joint venture was launched during RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s stay in the PRC last May. Now new programs of cooperation are being discussed as the Armenian side has prepared a package of business projects of mutual interest which will be taken up during the upcoming meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Yerevan.

The Prime Minister also appreciated his meetings with Deputy Foreign Minister Wan Guan Gia, Mayor of Shanghai Han Zhenhai, Director General of the Office of National Audit Li Tiaj Jin. The arrangements made during these meetings may be complemented with specific projects. The Prime Minister’s visit will continue on September 22 and 23.

Tigran Sargsyan noted that the results of Armenia’s participation in Shanghai of the Expo - 2010 are quite measurable. Estimated as one of the best pavilions on the site, Armenia’s stand has already been visited by over two million people which is quite a serious achievement. Numerous architects were engaged in the development of its concept which dully meets the motto of the exposition.

Concerning China’s participation in the project of Iran – Armenian railway project, Tigran Sargsyan advised that specific proposals have already been sent to Chinese partners for consideration.

New programs of cooperation are being discussed, including basalt processing, basalt fiber, solar battery and semiconductor fabrication, as well as a number of other projects covering agriculture, science and industry. Talks are underway concerning the cyclotron project.

Speaking about the feasibility of the City of the World project, Tigran Sargsyan said dream is at the heart of any big project. “We should not be afraid of dreaming if we are to succeed. Everyone can witness Shanghai turning into one of largest cities of the world, while either it was born from a dream. I believe that if we can find such individuals in Armenia as have a sincere trust in the City of the World, it will come true.”

The Prime Minister attended a function on the release of a new independence-dedicated post stamp by “Haypost.”
