“Clean Homeland” national program approved




Chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Government met in a regular session at the Office of Government.

The Government approved the Clean Homeland national program in an effort to address the environmental situation in the country, especially in urban settlements. The program will help improve the legislative field, make a better use of environmental resources and change the public’s attitude toward its habitat.

The heads of the ministries and agencies concerned were given 20 days to formulate and submit to the Minister of Nature Protection proposals on ways of participation in and fund commitment for corresponding actions under the Clean Homeland program. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan prioritized the program and expressed confidence that everybody could realize the task to address: “Environmental challenges are very keen in Armenia. We can see that things are getting ever worse each time we take a way to leave Yerevan for the countryside,” the Prime Minister said and added that everybody has a role to play in this campaign: educational institutions, local authorities, NGOs etc. The attitude of the public should be changed, if we are to keep our Homeland clean.

The government has approved the standards applicable to Indian mule meat importers and the statute of RA food security representative in India. According to today’s decision, meat producers shall have no less than ten years of experience in the relevant field, own slaughter-houses complying with the international standards, meat-processing shops, freezing facilities and so on.

Shirak marz administration was allocated AMD 15200.0 thousand for organization of Russian Culture Days to be held this August 19-20 in Shirak marz under an arrangement signed between Russia’s Ulyanovsk region government and Armenia’s Shirak marz administration.

The Cabinet endorsed a number of draft laws subject to National Assembly approval.

AMD 113262.1 thousand was allocated to Justice Ministry Staff’s Legal Persons State Registry with a view to improving and equipping office premises to provide “one-stop-shop” services to customers in Yerevan city. This will help facilitate the procedure to follow in providing such services, work in an online regime etc. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted in this connection that the given task is a priority one for 2010 and must be kept under the Minister’s immediate control. According to the head of government, the issue is too important and should be given broad media coverage. The Prime Minister made a point of the Minister of Justice-reported draft laws on local fees payable for motor-car parking and on garbage removal and sanitation which are expected to make breakthrough in the aforementioned spheres as soon as ratified by the National Assembly.

In compliance with the RA legislation, Hamlet Hacobyan was appointed to be Head of Staff of RA Ministry of Emergency Situations for two months on probation. Under another decree, Firdus Zakaryan was appointed to be Head of Staff of RA Ministry of Diaspora for three months on probation. Tigran Sargsyan congratulated the newly appointed officials.
