The wheat seed-growing development program approved

Today’s cabinet sitting approved the 2010-2014 wheat seed-growing development program of the Republic of Armenia. The Ministry of Agriculture was allowed to import 950 tons of “Krasnodar-99” and some other still locally unregistered highly reproductive seeds of winter wheat from Russian “Luch” experimental company (Stavropol region). The Minister of Agriculture was told to have the necessary Seeds Agency SNCO-brokered contracts signed between Armenian seed-producing entities and “Luch” experimental company.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan underscored that only through close cooperation between the State and the private sector the problem of seeds may be solved. It is just the first time the State has been allocating funds for the purchase of elite seeds from abroad. Well aware of the problem at issue, marz governors are supposed to join the Ministry of Agriculture to arrange the procurement of the needed seed grades for our farmers who are expected to take the yearly output of wheat up to some 350-360 thousand tons over the next few years.

The Government has approved the procedure to follow in providing clarifications regarding such legal acts as streamline relations between taxpayers and public agencies. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted that thereby the Ministry of Finance will be asked to play a central role in these relations by assuming greater responsibility in the matter.

Under another decision, AMD 79,309.0 thousand was allocated to the Ministry of Territorial Administration for transfer to RA National Archive SNCO with the purpose of reconstruction of archival storehouses. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan highlighted this decision by noting that at least for 10 years ahead the problem of updating the archive will be solved in Armenia.

The Government endorsed the proposal on signing a cooperation agreement between the governments of Armenia and Russia regarding the construction of a new nuclear power unit in our country. Earlier the Government had agreed to the proposal on installation of a Russian-make water-water power reactor at the new nuclear unit, as well as to the founding of “Medzamorenergoatom” Armenian-Russian CJSC which should be open for other investors as well.

The Cabinet next backed the proposal on the signing of a GoA-EC financing agreement on the second part of the 2009 nuclear safety action plan under which the European Commission shall finance the second part of the action plan to a total cost of euro 11,000,000.

In conclusion, the Government agreed to the signing of an economic, scientific and technical cooperation agreement between the governments of Armenia and Serbia.
